How a battle is fought

Every battle is fresh ground, generated from a seed: ridges, trenches, shell holes and the sunken road. Two batteries face each other across no-man's land.

1

Dig in

Spend 520 supplies on your works. Sandbags soak up blasts, concrete holds, timber is cheap, and a fuel drum makes a fine trap. Your enemy builds in secret at the same time.

2

Lay the gun

Bearing, elevation and charge on brass handwheels. The wind changes every turn and the observers report the fall of shot, over or short, left or right.

3

Bombard

Shells crater the ground and works topple under real physics. Bring in a Zeppelin raid or a fighter strafing run, and keep firing until the other gun falls silent.

Three operations

Choose your war

Artillery duel

Gun against gun. The first battery to knock out the other's field gun holds the line.

Protect the H.Q.

Each side guards a headquarters compound, a radio mast and an ammunition dump. Destroy theirs and keep yours standing.

Convoy

Three lorries run the sunken road under fire. One side escorts them through and the other must stop two of the three. Roles swap on the rematch.

Questions from the ranks

FAQ

Is Bombard free?

Yes. Every operation, map and shell is in the game for everyone, with no ads or purchases.

Do I need an account?

Only for online battles, and it is made for you: choose a callsign and you're in. To keep your rank on a new phone or PC, add an email and password from the online menu.

Can I still play offline?

Yes. You can play against the computer at three skill levels, with two commanders on one device, or over local Wi-Fi with the field telephone. None of these need the internet.

How does ranking work?

Ranked battles use an Elo rating starting at 1000. Beat a stronger commander and you climb further. Leaving a battle once the barrage has begun counts as a loss, and so does letting your turn clock run out.

My connection dropped mid-battle!

Your game reconnects on its own and the battle carries on where it was. If you are gone longer than the grace period, the battle goes to your opponent.
